Are you of Black African or Caribbean Heritage and want to make a difference in your community whilst learning how to sew?

 

We are thrilled to have partnered with NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) to offer free sewing workshops to raise awareness about the importance of blood donations within the Black African & Caribbean community in Medway and the surrounding areas.

You'll Learn

 

* The different parts of a domestic sewing machine and what they do

* How to thread your machine correctly

* How to wind and insert a bobbin

* Choosing the correct needle and thread

* Adjusting basic machine settings

* Sewing straight lines, curves and corners

* Using reverse stitch and understanding stitch length

* Common sewing terminology

* Basic machine care and maintenance

* Simple troubleshooting tips for common sewing problems

 

By the end of the workshop, you'll feel more confident to buy or set up and use your own sewing machine.

Materials and machines provided, however you may bring your sewing machine, along with you
